One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!Gertie the Pug turns two!

I leaned into being a crazy dog mom this week for Gertie’s second birthday (!!!), aka I totally got her a pupcake and a ridiculous little hat and spoiled her with new toys. We even had a few of her pup friends (and their wonderful parents) over for a play date–slash a chance for us to all catch up over wine. I also took advantage of the date to throw out some of her gross, slobbery old toys and replace them with new versions. I know this pug is spoiled beyond belief, but man, she brings me so much joy on a daily basis. Getting her was the best decision of our lives!

Urban Lights in Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles

I had to pop up to Los Angeles for a few work meetings this week, and I ended up passing by the Urban Lights public art installation. It was cool to see the background of SO many music videos and skateboarding videos and Instagram posts in person, and I thoroughly enjoyed people watching, aka seeing all of the style bloggers and their fashion photographer boyfriends take a million photos of a thousand different poses!

Namaste

I think I found my new favorite way to end the weekend: a “Yinki” class at The Little Yoga Studio. It’s yin yoga “infused with reiki healing energy,” and it’s basically the most relaxing yoga class possible. I woke up from shivasana feeling more refreshed than I’ve felt in weeks!

Looks

We popped down to Tijuana last weekend to brewery hop–post coming soon on the experience!–and in my opinion, the real star of the show was this LLAMA print tank. Love a good colorful print–and I continue to love having unlimited colorful options to choose from via Rent the Runway Unlimited!

Rose garden in North Park, San Diego

Blooms

The other morning, I took a different route home from the park and wandered past a house with with a beautiful row of blooming, incredibly fragrant roses. And they were all labeled with cute little name tags with the type of rose! I think I officially see my future gardening slash life goals, and they look like roses with name tags.

Reads

I just wrapped up The Trespasser (which might be my favorite Tana French so far) and I’m excited to dive into An American Marriage. I’m borrowing it from a friend who said she read it in a day, and it was an Oprah Book Club pick–so my expectations are pretty high!Bird Rock beach in San Diego, California

Words

“Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

This weekend, I’m looking forward to relaxing in San Diego! I’m going to a therapeutic stretch class with my husband (IT IS SO WONDERFUL), grabbing lunch with a girlfriend here, and just enjoying the sunshine.
