Postcard from Central Park in fall

Central Park is one of my favorite places in the city in all seasons, but it’s especially hard to beat in fall. The foliage is just so gorgeous! And one of my favorite (and fairly underrated) spots in the park is the Pool, located off 103rd Street on the west side. It’s far enough from the south touristy haunts (Bow Bridge, Bethesda Fountain, etc.) to make it feel quiet and serene and like a bit of a secret. Central Park in the fall in New York CityOn a perfectly crisp fall day in mid-November, I picked up a Harvest Bowl from sweetgreen (honestly, there’s nothing better) and hopped on a Citibike and biked around the loop from Midtown up to the lake. I simply skipped through all the trees and hopped in the leaves, and then sat on a sunny bench to read my book and eat my lunch. It was so lovely that I wondered why I didn’t do it far more often before the cold weather set in this year!
