The difference between sand, stones and smaller stones

Tweet Ah, sandy beaches. It’s a foreign concept to many French people, who are used to toughing it out on large, round stones at the sea. However, I’ve been spoiled by the California coastline and Hawaiian islands: laying out should be relaxing, not a constant struggle to get comfortable on the rocks.

Even a heat wave in Paris is charming

Tweet One of my favorite ways to spend a sunny day in Paris is in the Jardins de Luxembourg. All I need is the latest copy of French Elle, a refreshing (preferably pink) drink and a place to put up my feet. Obviously, I’m not the only one who thinks this is the perfect afternoon.

Postcard from Paris

Tweet Another epic windstorm hit Nice last week–one of those days where you walk outside and literally feel like you might be blown away. I saw a flower pot blow off a fourth-story window in Old Nice and shatter just inches from people walking below. The wind gusts were strong enough to close down the [...]

A bit “ehhh” about Eze

Tweet It’s hard to keep up the “tourist” mentality when you’re working, writing, studying French, running errands and attempting to have a social life. In short, only having one morning to sleep in each week makes it hard to want to wake up early enough to do anything–before my shift at the bar starts at [...]
