It was another crazy week of work travel for me (up to Los Angeles for the day, and then up to San Jose the next day!), and I’m really hoping to take advantage of the long weekend at home to get on top of all sorts of stuff–like finally organizing some boxes in the garage, taking a few bags of stuff to Goodwill and writing up all of the excellent posts that y’all suggested a few weeks ago!

The real highlight of the week was coming home to the hardback copy of Dog Mom yesterday! This was the first time that I saw it in the flesh, and it was so wild to see my name on the front of a book. It’s also been so delightful to see my friends who bought the book (thank you!!!) share it on social media, and to watch David read it for the very first time. Such a fun time to remember!

Looks

My favorite use case for Rent the Runway is still for fancy events, like a Saturday night wedding! I don’t think I’ll ever buy a cocktail dress like this again, but I feel so snazzy wearing them. This Jill Stuart number was so colorful and fun (I think red and hot pink is my new favorite color combination?!) and it absolutely fit like a glove.

Eats

I wanted to take advantage of our time in the Bay Area and do something touristy that I’d never done before, so we decided to bike over the Golden Gate Bridge! We biked to the adorable town of Sausalito, where we had lunch at Joinery before taking the ferry back to the city and heading to the airport. I loved being able to sip a glass of wine and dig into this fried chicken sandwich right next to the water: would definitely do this again, and hopefully have enough time to keep on biking to Tiburon afterwards.

Sweet Tooth

When we were in Oakland last weekend for a friend’s wedding, we got hungry in the late afternoon–too late for lunch, too early for dinner!–and David was in charge of finding a place for us to get a snack. His pick: Sweet Belly Desserts! Initially, I thought mayyyybe I’d prefer something healthier but this spot was SO cute and my toasted coconut and caramel swirl soft serve topped with fruity pebbles (!!!) was decadent but delicious. No regrets!

I absolutely tore though All the Ugly and Wonderful Things: it was absolutely one of the most compelling books I’ve read this year, with an incredibly unique storyline that sparks so many tough to answer (and interesting to discuss) questions.
