One thing that’s worth reading

One book that I recommend purchasing for your nightstand: Gift from the Sea. Although it was written in the mid 1950’s by Anne Morrow Lindbergh (wife of famed aviator Charles), so much of it still resonates today–especially as a woman who strives to write and work. View from the San Juan Marriott Resort in Puerto Rico

One of my favorite lines: “Now, instead of planting our solitude with our own dream blossoms, we choke the space with continuous music, chatter and companionship to which we do not even listen. It is simply there to fill the vacuum. When the noise stops there is no inner music to take its place. We must re-learn to be alone.” How much more relevant in 2017 than 1955!

It’s a beautiful and simple read about youth and age, love and marriage, solitude and commitment. And as a professed lover of the beach: plenty of references to the meditative state of the ocean and life on an island, it’s even more appealing.

Has anyone else read Gift from the Sea?
