One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!

I had such a glorious week of self-care and productive mornings, and as a result: I am feeling SO energetic and healthy! I tried out a few new wellness trends, including a sensory-deprivation float at Lift Floats (SO relaxing) and an infrared sauna sesh with color therapy at Higher Dose (extra rejuvenating). It’s amazing how making time for activities like this really does improve overall wellbeing AND productivity. There are a bunch of ways to manage stress and anxiety, but I find that regularly making time and space to clear my mind completely is the the most effective. Although New York City can be a very stressful place to be, the upside is that there are always the coolest and most innovative places to let it all go.

Looks

I splurged on these Loeffler Randall boots for a special event–and then they totally didn’t work with the outfit that I bought them for! I had them sitting outside my closet getting ready to return them, and then I had one chaotic morning where I hated everything in my closet–I spotted them and made a gut decision to keep them. I got so many compliments on them that day that I was so happy that I kept them! They’re actually super comfortable and spice up any outfit for work and weeekend, so I feel like I made the right choice (even if they were splurge-y!). Nickel & Dimed in New York CityNickel & Dimed in New York City

Eats

My friend Jillian was in town for work, so we decided to pick up our weekly latte dates right where we left off. We tried out Nickel & Diner, a super cute place in SoHo with a throwback diner vibe. We both went for the egg sandwich and it was SO good–the basil vinaigrette really made all the difference. Alma Botanicals

Beauty

One of the things that I didn’t mention in my beauty routine: the importance of a good scrub and good hydration! In unsexy things, I sometimes get breakouts on my back and I find that regularly using a body scrub makes a huge difference (especially in summer). And I’m not always great at hydrating my skin enough–whenever I get facials, that’s the one thing my facialist always tells me I could improve upon! I’ve been using a few products from Alma Botanicals lately and really loving them: the polish smells so good and makes my skin super soft (and clear), and the nourishing oil has been a godsend for my skin and hair in these dry winter months. Bonus: I love that I can actually recognize and pronounce all of the ingredients in the products!

Words

“One must dare to be happy.” -Gertrude Stein

This weekend, my parents are coming to town! I’m so excited for them to finally see our apartment and meet Gertie, and can’t wait to show them a few of our favorite haunts in the neighborhood.
