One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!

Thanksgiving day family portrait I’m feeling very thankful this Thanksgiving week! Grateful for supportive and loving fiancé, an adorable and reasonably well-behaved pug (who loves her cat cousins!), a comfortable apartment, a place to work and a place to write, the chance to live in New York City and the opportunity to travel to so many beautiful places. I know I’m lucky and I try not to take any of it for granted–because who knows how long it all will last! That said, as we go into this holiday season, I’m trying to be less stressed about the small stuff (aka holiday shopping) and happier about the big stuff (see: all of the above).

Gym Vibes

I’ve gotten low-key obsessed with New York Pilates over the past few months, so I was stoked to discover that they opened another location in the Bowery. In general, I’m very into a 55-minute workout that works your entire body and doesn’t leave you dripping in sweat (aka why I’m very into yoga, Pilates, barre). But the vibe at New York Pilates is especially cool and modern (aka I’m obsessed with the white brick walls and fiddle leaf fig), the teachers are awesome, and the playlists are always on point.

Looks

I spent a long time this fall debating whether or not to get a sleeveless sweater: weren’t they a bit of an oxymoron? Would it be practical? Would I wear it in winter or only in fall or ever? I am happy to report that I splurged on one, and I think I might just be hooked: it’s surprisingly versatile, and impossible to overheat when the heat is turned all the way up indoors. Sweater is Wilfred at Aritzia (currently on sale!), jeans are Citizens, shoes are M.Gemi.Mural on Mott Street in New York City Rag & Bone mural in SoHo, New York City

Reads

When I headed down to Barbados on my own, I knew that having a good (and very long) book was going to be key. I decided to put the classic Gone with the Wind on my Kindle, and oh my gosh, I’m so glad I did! I’ve never read the book or watched the movie, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I’m blown away by the character development of Scarlett (such an underrated heroine!) and the incredibly engaging plot: it’s certainly one of the best books I’ve ever read, and I’m going to be so disappointed when I finish it. (Although as soon as I do, I’m watching the film!)

Words

“Let the beauty we love be what we do.” -Rumi

This weekend, we’re relaxing in a quiet New York City! I’m excited for lunch at Tiny’s, my favorite Pilates class and lots of curling up with my pug and something to read. ALSO, I’m going to publish a bunch of my favorite independent, women-led brands tomorrow so check back if you want some online shopping inspiration!
