One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!

Fifth Avenue in New York CityThis week has basically just been one giant countdown to Paris: I’m simultaneously SO excited and also so anxious about leaving Gertie at home. I know she’s in such good hands (huge shout-out to Erin, Ashley and Lindley for being the best friends/dog-aunts ever!), but it’s still so nerve-wracking to leave my baby behind! I’ve already sent an insane helicopter-parent email about taking care of her and I’m probably going to be checking in all the time on our nanny cam. I’m a nut, I know. On the flip side, I’m very much looking forward to sleeping in at least one day on our trip!

Public art street signs in New Yrok Streets

On the corner of Houston Street and Second Avenue in New York, there’s a great little park filled with public art: this is one of my favorite pieces that I bike by all the time on my way home. So apt for life in the big city! Quinn the Sheltie and Gertie the Pug

Pug Life

In the best thing to happen in young Gertie’s life: our neighbors just brought home Quinn, an 11-week-old Sheltie puppy! They’re 100% going to be best friends, especially since they’re both puppies and learning how to play (aka they annoy older dogs).

Eats

We went to Walter’s in Fort Greene one night for dinner with my boyfriend’s parents, and it was so good! It was too dark for any good photos, but I can vouch that the spicy fisherman’s stew was delicious. My favorite part: the gallery wall is all photos of famous Walters! We had a great time trying to identify them all.Kitten Coffee in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn Kitten Coffee in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn

Drinks

A new location of Kitten Coffee opened just up the street from us: the perfect destination for morning walks with Gertie! It’s the cutest little Australian-owned place with excellent iced coffee, a record player always playing great music and a vintage-y tiled floor.Hotel des Vosges in Paris

Words

“If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.” -Ernest Hemingway

We fly to Paris tonight! We’re staying in Montmartre this weekend at this adorable hotel, and I am just so excited to show my favorite city to my favorite person.
