One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!Members Movie Night at Brooklyn Botanic Night After a very busy few weeks of travel–Paris, Cambridge, a day upstate for Camp Vimeo and a weekend in Avalon–it was so nice to just be home with relatively few plans! One of the highlights, however, was an evening at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for a members’ movie night on Cherry Esplanade. We picked up Sweetgreen salads, picked up drinks at the cash bar, and watched ET under the stars: it was definitely one of those experiences that makes me so grateful to live in Brooklyn!

Sunset over Brooklyn Bridge in New York CityReads

I started reading Before The Fall on a whim, and then couldn’t put it down! It’s the story of a private plane that crashes off Martha’s Vineyard with only two survivors, and it’s really smartly-told with layered character development that keeps you guessing until the last page. I don’t know how much I love the ending, but I can’t deny that it kept me engaged until the very end.Piadina from Eataly in New York City

Eats

The new Eataly is open at the World Trade Center! It’s just as crazed and full of delicious Italian food as the one in Flatiron. I had to pop there for a work lunch earlier this week, and snuck the second half of my tomato-basil-mozzarella flatbread piadina to eat in the surprisingly serene Trinity Cemetery across the street.

Wine and rooftops in Brooklyn

Drinks

We’ve been trying to take advantage of these lovely summer evenings up on the roof. The bonus is letting Gertie have a play date up there with Quinn, the Sheltie puppy who lives in our building! We can relax and have a glass of wine, order in delivery and enjoy the sunset while those two tire themselves out.Dough Doughnuts in Brooklyn

Sweet Tooth

I really need to start taking more advantage of living just down the street from Dough. I picked up a dozen for a coworker’s birthday earlier this week and remembered just how delicious they are. My personal favorite flavors: hibiscus and passionfruit with cocoa nibs!Oculus One World Trade Center in New York City

Words

“Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” -Steve Jobs

This is one of those crazy weekends where I’m in New York City and trying to do all the things and see all the people! I’m excited for a dinner-and-a-movie date night, to get in some pool time, finally check out Brooklyn Farmacy and have a rooftop BBQ slash pup playdate.
