One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!Boerum Hill front stoop Such a glorious short work week! We had a super chill 4th of July, which was much needed. I’m almost embarrassed by how little we did, but it was great to just hang out with Gertie and not worry about dealing with holiday traffic or any big social plans. We got deep into a Breaking Bad marathon (I never really got into it while it was on the air), drank plenty of homemade cold brew, and had happy hour on our balcony every night. And the rest of our work week was fairly similar, with some Blue Apron meals thrown into the mix! I’m starting to realize just how much having a puppy can really shift your lifestyle, but it’s been a nice reminder of how much I enjoy our little life in Brooklyn.

Streets

Bed-Stuy has no shortage of murals that pay homage to the famous rappers who grew up in the neighborhood. I walk by this ODB one almost every day on the way to the train.

Cha Cha Matcha in Nolita

Drinks

Since I’ve been working from home with Gertie most mornings, I haven’t had a solo coffee adventure in quite a while! When my schedule conspired to take me into Manhattan early this week, I decided to check out Cha Cha Matcha in NoLIta. I must admit that this trip just reinforced how much I don’t love matcha—it tastes too much like grass!—but the pink-and-green interior of the café felt super tropical and cute. I’d definitely go back, but I’d opt for an iced coffee next time!Gertie the pug with a hydrangea

Pug Life

In crazy news: Gertie was featured on People Magazine’s Instagram! No idea how it happened, but we noticed that she was getting a few extra followers on her Instagram page—and then we discovered this hilarious little video that was created with photos from her Instagram and this video. So much fun!

Christine Amorose in Topshop romper

Looks

This romper is my new weekend go-to: it’s so comfortable, and it’s perfect on those NYC summer days that are just dripping with humidity. I wore it last weekend to meet my friend’s adorable one-month-old baby, Layla! Isn’t she the cutest? We went over to congratulate the new parents, and I must say, at this stage, a newborn seems a million times easier than a puppy!Bed-Stuy sunset

Shows

Now that The Good Wife has wrapped (sob), my new show obsession is Unreal. It’s a scripted drama that takes place on the set of a reality TV show, and it is SO interesting, with so many twisted and layered characters. I’ve never gotten into The Bachelor-type shows, but I’m totally enthralled by Unreal. It’s a Lifetime show, but don’t let that turn you off: it is totally worth watching. Any other fans?!

Yes building in Bushwick

Words

“i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes”

This weekend, we’re in the Berkshires with my boyfriend’s family: Gertie’s first vacation! Here are photos from last year, and the year before, and a video. I can’t wait to introduce Gertie to lake life!
