The best of 48 hours in Cannes

This was not a post I expected to write this year: I found out that I’d be going to Cannes approximately one week before I left, and because of how it coincided with getting Gertie, I’d be on the ground for about the same amount of time as I’d be in transit. The official reason for the trip: I represented Vimeo (and more specifically, Vimeo Brand Studio) on a panel about branded entertainment at Cannes Lions. Cannes, France Even though it was a whirlwind of a business trip, I still managed to squeeze in a few walks around the colorful streets and along the beachfront promenade, a couple of trips to Galeries Lafayettes and Monoprix, and plenty of pains au chocolats. It was glorious just to have the opportunity to speak French!

Cannes, France Cannes, France As soon as I finished the panel, my reward was a lovely session at a private beach: it’s so civilized to be able to sip a sparkling water and sit under an umbrella after taking a dip in the Mediterranean! Cannes, France Cannes, France  The agency who coordinated the panel took over a gorgeous villa as its headquarters: I popped up there to celebrate a  panel well-done with a glass of rose and a dip in the pool. It was a pretty crazy juxtaposition for me, when I thought about the fact that I had been waitressing and bartending the next town over six years ago: to now be one of the people drinking the drinks with the gorgeous view, instead of just serving them, felt like a really fun milestone. The Carlton in Cannes, France Managed to squeeze in a cheeky glass of rose and plenty of people watching on the terrace at The Carlton one night.Cannes, France   Cannes, France Cannes, France Cannes, France Streets of Cannes, FranceStreets of Cannes, France I went on a bit of a wander through the cobblestone streets, and fell more in love around every corner: it all just felt so gorgeous and exotic and novel. And I especially loved all of the flower window boxes and planters: so much tiny space garden inspiration! Cannes, France I spotted this gorgeous church in the center of town, and then loved it even more with I spotted the name: it basically translates to “Our Lady of the safe travels.”  Mural in Cannes, France When I was 19, I took a day trip to Cannes with my mom when we were visiting Nice. We ate pizza and drank rose at a little sidewalk pizza cafe across the street from this mural, and it’s been one of my favorites ever since. It was so comforting to spot it!   Breakfast in Cannes, FranceCannes, France Cannes, France I had to leave for the airport at 9am in the morning, so I woke up bright and early so that I could enjoy a coffee, croissant and fresh-squeezed orange juice while reading the Nice-Matin at a little sidewalk cafe. I also popped into the market, where I swooned over all the flowers, picked up some strawberries to eat in the airport (total life-saver, since the Nice Airport is under construction and there’s a serious shortage of places to eat, and a couple of baguettes to take home!  Cannes, France
