Postcard from La Quinta

Postcard from La Quinta

After working in Los Angeles last week, I drove out to Palm Springs for a weekend reunion with my college girlfriends: we celebrated a 30th birthday, a new baby on the way and more than nine years of friendship. I flew out on the red-eye on Sunday night–JetBlue now offers a direct Palm Springs-NYC route, which is crazy!La Quinta houses near Palm Springs, CaliforniaAlthough most of the girls headed back home right after brunch, my friend Ashly and I went to hang out with her parents at their house in La Quinta. The last time I was there was for Stagecoach 2012, which seems like a lifetime ago: it was great to catch up with her and her family while drinking beers, listening to country music and eating BBQ. I took a quick spin around the neighborhood right before the sun went down to capture a few photos of that quintessential desert architecture. I couldn’t get enough of the vibrant fuchsia bougainvillea, turquoise accents and towering cacti–all in the shadow of those desert hills. I think I very well could become a La Quinta snowbird some day!
