One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend! Christine Amorose This post is coming to you a bit late because this is the first week in a while that I haven’t had the time to reply to my personal emails, let alone write a blog post. Alas! It’s all because of good stuff: I’ve been involved in some senior-level meetings at work (!) AND I took part in a fun little shoot for a new travel series on Bravo.com (hence ALL of the make-up in the photo above). I’m hoping to do a bunch of blog things this weekend to get ahead, and that said: I would LOVE it if you could leave any suggestions in the comments below. What do you want to read about in 2016?

Gym Vibes

I’ve been loving popping over to Chelsea Piers on my lunch break for a mat Pilates or core strengthening class, but this week was just too crazy with meetings and appointments for me to break away during the day. I was feeling super guilty about not making it to the gym, but I finally went this morning: it’s amazing how that beautiful early morning light can up your energy levels in the best possible way.

Manhattan at home

Drinks

My boyfriend has long been obsessed with crafting the perfect Manhattan, but I’ve usually opted out of any whiskey-based drink for a glass of wine instead. No more! I’ve lately been enjoying a Manhattan as an nightcap, although I do insist on always having an extra cherry. We splurged on these Italian-imported cherries and they are 100% worth it: so rich and delicious!

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Reads

I’ve been reading the classic How to Win Friends and Influence People on the train every morning, and it’s been such a good way to start the work day. The tips are surprisingly simple–smile, use people’s names, compliment the good instead of criticizing the bad–but it’s so nice to have those little tidbits in mind as I go into a potentially stressful situation. If you haven’t read it before, you should! (In other excellent ways to start the day: fresh-squeezed orange juice and Vegemite toast!)

Brooklyn during Snowstorm Jonas, the first blizzard of 2016

Words

“The snow doesn’t give a soft white damn whom it touches.” –ee cummings

This weekend, I’m so excited to finally try out this Tuscan restaurant housed in a 130-year-old pharmacy: neighborhood date night!
