A flower-filled visit to the New York Botanical Garden

Full disclosure: if you do not like flowers, you are going to hate this post, and I will not even be mad if you close out of it immediately (although I would be a little sad because as Ralph Waldo Emerson said: the earth laughs in flowers). That said: ALL OF THE FLOWERS ARE AHEAD.

My friend Jillian and I went to the New York Botanical Gardens last Saturday for what might have been the most glorious day in the city in all of 2015. It was sunny and 75 degrees and it truly felt like an awakening after a long, long winter. We explored the 250 acres of verdant landscape, wandered through the most beautiful tropical orchids in the 19th-century greenhouse, and quite literally frolicked through fields of daffodils. If you’re looking for an escape from the city without actually leaving the city: go straight to the Bronx. Even though springtime actually felt magical, I’m already looking forward to seeing all the green trees in summer and the changing colors of the foliage in fall and warming up in the greenhouse in winter!
