Postcard from Chico State

Postcard from Chico State

One of the highlights of going back to California was visiting my alma mater: California State University, Chico. Not only did I have an absolutely amazing time during my four years in Chico, but the vast majority of my friends in New York City also went to Chico State. There are about 20 alumni who graduated within a year or two of me and now live in the city. My boyfriend has heard SO many stories about Chico, so he was eager to see it firsthand–and I was dying to go back.California State University, Chico

Chico State is a public university located about an hour and a half north of Sacramento: it’s in a tiny little college town in the middle of nowhere. There’s an excellent journalism program that’s so kindly subsidized by the taxpayers of California, and there’s a creek that runs through campus with an amphitheatre that straddles the water. I played lacrosse and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and volunteered at CAVE; overall, I feel like it’s a fantastic experience and education for the price, and such a steal!

Not exactly on Chico State campus, but Madison Bear Garden is basically right next door and it’s totally a local institution. We grabbed burgers and a beer for lunch on the back patio, and it was perfect! California State University, ChicoCalifornia State University, Chico
