One of the reasons why I blog is simply to have the space to write: getting things “on paper” helps me to process my feelings and organize my thoughts. I also love having a record of my life over the past few years: a place that holds all of my stories, my photos, the ups and downs of travel. But sometimes, I also just want to remember and share the little things that brought me day-to-day joy. Every Friday, I’ll give you a peek into the book I currently can’t put down, a great restaurant discovery, a fun new product or an inspiring quote: a few things that I think you might enjoy before we all take off into the glory that is the weekend!

Church on 14th Street in New York City

After a whirlwind trip to Northern California and a glorious Monday of errands-running and Friends-watching, I started my new job at Vimeo on Tuesday! And I taught my first yoga class at Greenhouse Holistic (the studio where I earned my yoga teacher certification) on Thursday morning! It’s been a hectic week: meeting new people, attempting to get up to speed on a ton of (awesome) projects, figuring out a new commute and morning routine. The biggest hurdle? Going into an office on Friday! I’ve worked from home on Fridays for the past two years, and I think I’m going to miss the perk of working on the couch in yoga pants the most.

Jewels

I received this gorgeous turquoise statement necklace in my second Rocks Box, and it was exactly what I felt like Rocks Box is great for: I’d never buy this necklace on its own–it’s simply not versatile enough–but it was perfect to be able to wear a couple of times and then send back. For $20 a month, I’m super into the service so far: this box also came with a super simple but gorgeous gold infinity ring and black cuff bracelet. You can even try out the first month free!

Looks

I read somewhere in my bevy of fashion magazines that midi skirts are “in” for fall: perfect since I already have a couple of wool pleated vintage options in my closet! So classy and so flattering, they’re definitely about to be my go-to workday outfit.

Take Me Back

I’ve been slightly envious as I watch Zach and Adrienne‘s adventures in Queensland: all of that tropical goodness, captured through the lenses of two of my favorite Instagrammers! I only spent a few days in Cairns while I was living in Australia, and it wasn’t nearly enough: definitely one of the regions I’m most interested in exploring more the next time I go down under. Ivy covered door in Chelsea, New York

Fixed Life Envy: Doors

One of the fun things about a new office is a new neighborhood to explore. I’m already on a quest to find the best doorways around, and this ivy-covered gem in Chelsea is already a sure favorite.

Nars beauty stick

Beauty

When my friend Katelyn visited me earlier this summer, she raved about the Nars Multiple stick: not only is it super flattering and easy to use on eyes, cheeks and lips but it’s so convenient to just toss in a purse for the day. I finally picked one up to use primarily for blush, and I love it so far! Highly recommend.

This weekend, I’m planning to bet on the ponies at the Belmont Park Fabulous Fillies Day (weather permitting!), squeeze in a yoga class or two, and catch up on lost sleep on Sunday morning. It will be nice to be back in the city with no major plans!
