Postcard from Morningside Heights

When I moved to New York City, Renee and I sublet an apartment from a Columbia student in Morningside Heights. I figured a month would be enough time for me to get a feel for the city, find a job, find an apartment–and it pretty much was.

While I didn’t decide to stay living on the Upper West Side, I loved having a month to explore a new neighborhood. I fell in love with sunny afternoons in Morningside Park, big skies and expansive views over Harlem rooftops, the buzz of opportunity and optimism as a new school year dawned on Columbia University. Bonus: it’s home to the friendliest post office workers and the real-life location of Seinfeld’s Monk’s Cafe.
