Postcard from Lorne

May 25, 2011 in Australia,Places,Victoria

The Great Ocean Road is dotted with picturesque seaside towns: the whole beauty of road tripping is being able to stop and meander through each one. Lorne is often recommended as an overnight stay, but we decided it was just perfect for an afternoon tea break. After indulging in a cuppa and freshly-baked scones, we window-shopped on one side of the Great Ocean Road and dipped our toes in the surf on the other.

  • Those clouds, specially in pic 2 and 7, look like a storm is coming near – very dramatic. Loved them!

I think those Australian birds are cockatoos!

  • For some reason I managed to mis The Great Ocean Road during the 9 months I was in Australia.  I should definitely do it next time I make it over there.

  • Great pics. I love afternoon tea! :)

  • These photos are brilliant. Your Great Ocean Road posts are making me very eager to get to Australia and to get on the road! A road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road has been on my list since I was in Australia 2 years ago!

    It’s just beautiful!

The weather certainly wasn’t amazing–in typical Victoria fashion, it went from sunshine to storms in an instant!!!

I think so! They’re everywhere here!

My friend fell in love with the banana tea here–so good!!! The scones were my favorite part :)

Totally worth it–still probably my favorite part of Australia that I’ve seen so far!

  • Scones and beautiful views? Sounds like the place is right up my alley :-)

And the scones were SO good! I love the concept of a tea and scone afternoon break–something we really need more of in America!
