Ice cream twice in one day? Absolutely!

Ice cream twice in one day? Absolutely!

Well, I’ve already gained a kilo and I’m pretty sure the ice cream servers are starting to judge me. I think I’m going to have to explain myself if I keep going twice in one day. My mini photo shoots with my ice cream–although I didn’t bring out the big guns this week, and stuck to my iPhone and my point-and-shoot–have definitely garnered me a few strange looks from fellow patrons.

Vanilla Meringue & Pecan

However, I’m not regretting the Challenge of the Cornet at all. It’s forcing me to try new things–unlike at home, where I have a scoop of Pralines and Cream every time at Baskin Robbins. I’m definitely dreading the day I have to try licorice flavor, but so far, I’ve really enjoyed all my choices. Without further ado, here is this week’s round-up of the challenge of the cornet.

Huge chunk of meringue...YUM!

Pecan: Pecan was recommended to me, but I have to say, I’m not impressed. It tasted more like vanilla with a few pecans in it–the pecan flavor was very understated. It’s not bad, but I was expecting more.

Vanille Meringue/Vanilla Meringue: Absolutely the best find of the week! I picked vanilla meringue thinking it was just a type of vanilla flavor. And then I bit into the most glorious chunk of meringue, and I’ve never been happier. I absolutely adore meringues, but I rarely eat them as they’re so darn sugary, they make my teeth hurt. This is the perfect way to get my meringue fix!

Caramel & Ferraro Rocher

Gout de Rocher/Ferrero Rocher: I absolutely LOVE Ferrero Rocher candies–I get a pack of three in my stocking every year, and I savor every bite. Needless to say, the ice cream absolutely did not disappoint. It’s quite rich, but if you like the luxe, you’ll love this.

Caramel: I have a partner in the cornet challenge! After a dinner date, my friend Nevin graciously agreed to help me out and go have an ice cream–and hold the cones for the picture. She picked caramel, and we both agreed that it’s quite a strong flavor. Caramel is usually just a complement, so to have an entire scoop of it was intense. Delicious, but might be better paired with something softer.

Vanilla Pepper Rose

Vanille Poivre Rose/Vanilla Pepper Rose: This gem was hidden with the “weird” flavors like tomato-basil and beer. However, it’s actually a quite nice flavor if you like pepper. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera on me–learning more and more that I should never leave it at home–but it was quite a nice color, cream with flicks of pink and black for the rose and pepper. If you’re looking for something new without breaking your comfort zone too much, I’d recommend this.

Flavors (officially) tried: 7
Flavors left to try: 86

And the challenge continues! Are there any flavors you’d like me to try or any you recommend?
