Nutella is the beverage of champions

Nutella-cino

My cocktail/barista/life-in-general tip of the day: just add Nutella.

I’ve found a cafe here that clearly caught on to the American obsession: they have Nutella EVERYTHING. Nutella muffins, milkshakes, cookies, hot chocolate. And bagels. Real bagels with real cream cheese that tempt me every time I go in.

However, I haven’t been able to say no to the Nutella yet. Bagels will have to wait. I’m paying a ridiculous amount of Euros for my Nutella fix, since I know the jar will be empty in 2.5 seconds if I actually buy one. Better to ration my chocolate-hazelnut gloriousness intake.

If you have a bit more self-control than me, however, the Nutella drinks are super easy to make at home. Here are a few ideas to get your brain stirring with Nutella envy.

Nutella-cino: Make espresso. Add a dollop of Nutella. Stir. Serve. Enjoy.

Nutella coffee: Make coffee. Add a dollop of Nutella. Stir. Serve. Enjoy.

Nutella milkshake: Put half parts milk and Nutella in a blender (basically, half the jar). Maybe throw some ice, vanilla yogurt or ice cream in. Blend. Serve. Enjoy.

Nutella hot chocolate: Make hot chocolate. Add a dollop of Nutella. Stir. Serve. Enjoy.

Do you see a pattern here? Basically, add Nutella to anything and it instantly becomes a million times more delicious. Don’t forget to stir, unless you want a regular drink and heap of Nutella at the bottom. I made that mistake once, and while the last drop was delicious, the rest of the drink was pretty boring. And if you feel like starting the weekend early, don’t forget about my Nutella cocktail recipe.

Cheers!

  • We definitely need to go back there and try the bagels next time! :0)

All I can say is yum.

  • Love this stuff. Which is why I don't buy it. I just can't stay out of it. And I see I'm not the only one. But, as is my habitude, I went directly to the cocktail recipe. I'm off to buy a jar and a bottle of Frangelico…right now!

Only if we can consider a bagel and a Nutella milkshake a well-balanced meal.

  • camorose

That's all you need to say. It's amazing.

The cocktail recipe is seriously the best! I do love the Nutella-cino as well–just a more fun way to drink coffee!

  • Here's how a conversation went at work yesterday:
    Boss: “Did you eat breakfast?”
Me: “I had a Nutella sandwich.”
    Boss: “Wait, what??”
    Me: “A sandwich… of Nutella.”
    Boss: “That sounds really unhealthy.”
Me: “Nah, I smeared the Nutella on two pieces of whole grain bread.”
Boss: “Oh, well that makes it healthier.”
    Me: “Exactly.”

  • I'd prefer the bread and cheese part of your diet over the Nutella part! It's not for me!

  • camorose

Slice a banana to put in between and you basically have what I've been considering my “fruit serving” of the day.

  • camorose

To each his own! Although I'll never get sick of bread and cheese, and sometimes I get a bit Nutella-d out.

  • Ah, nutella. I never tire of it. I love it smeared on toasted baguette with sliced strawberries, sprinkled with sugar and then under the broiler to caramelize for just a few seconds. Heaven.

  • camorose

Holy moly, I have never thought of this but it sounds AMAZING. I might have to buy a jar just to try this. Will report back.
